Calendars As Constant Reminders

Calendars are really meant to remind people, I know. What I’m driving at here is that these personalized promotional calendars remind me of things, events and thoughts that I prefer to be forgotten already. I can’t do anything about it, I guess. Nobody can survive without looking at them.
The sad fact of the matter is that those custom personalized promotional calendars often remind me of things that I’m always sad of. The mere thought of most of the things in the past gives me another reason to be more afraid of facing the future. As if salt on an open wound, most of my friends often give me these promotional products as gifts during holidays and events.
Oblivious to what I’m experiencing whenever I see these promotional items, my friends totally think that they help me a lot each time they give me the logo personalized promotional calendars. My past does not give me reasons to be happy in reliving my memories. If possible, I would pay anything just to get selective amnesia.
There was also this one time that my boss asked me to distribute his calendar gifts to all the employees. A couple of cheap promotional plastic bags were full of that stuff, and each time I hand one out to an employee, my heart breaks. Despite that, however, I had to smile. Besides, I was giving away presents right? These calendars are everywhere, and I can’t see them gone any time soon. I guess I’ll just have to live with it.
